The people behind Practice-BR

Teachers of Portuguese as a foreign language, with years of classroom and publishing experience. Every activity on the platform goes through their hands.

Daisy Oliani

Daisy Oliani

Founder · Teacher and author

15+ years teaching PortugueseMaster's, Sorbonne NouvellePublished co-author (Ellipses)

Daisy has been teaching Brazilian Portuguese to foreigners for over 15 years, to professional and academic learners. Over time, she specialised in the part of the job students rarely see: creating the material. She designs curricula, activities and digital resources for people who need to use the language for real, at work and in everyday life.

In 2026, she published Je pige enfin ! Le portugais brésilien with Cheyenne Ribeiro, through Éditions Ellipses.

She is also the founder of Practice-BR, where she brings her classroom experience to building the platform.

“After years of creating material for the classroom, I wanted students to get the same care when they study on their own. That's why I created Practice-BR: every activity is designed like a page in a book, with a beginning, a middle and a clear purpose.”

Cheyenne Ribeiro

Teacher of Portuguese as a foreign language and author

15+ years of teachingMaster's, Université Paris 8Published co-author (Ellipses)

Cheyenne has been teaching for over 15 years and has focused on Portuguese for foreigners since 2015, when she began teaching at Université Paris 8. Today she trains French-speaking and international adults remotely, with one-to-one support. She also has corporate experience, working with foreign professionals in São Paulo.

Content creation has gone hand in hand with this path: from 2016 to 2020, she wrote teaching material for CNED, France's national distance-learning centre. In 2026, she published Je pige enfin ! Le portugais brésilien with Daisy Oliani, through Éditions Ellipses. At Practice-BR, she brings this experience to creating the activities.

“Language can't be separated from culture. When an activity shows how Brazilians speak and why they speak that way, students stop translating in their heads and start truly communicating.”

Lorena Santos

Portuguese teacher, French-Portuguese interpreter and author

Teaching Portuguese since 2014French-Portuguese interpreterAuthor for CNED

Lorena has been teaching Portuguese to foreigners since 2014, with experience at the Académies of Paris and Versailles, Université Paris 8 and Universidad del Norte in Colombia. Since 2019, she has run her own training company in the Paris area.

She also works as a French-Portuguese interpreter in situations where every word counts: business trips with visits to factories and cooperatives, business meetings, official conferences and international round tables. This experience feeds into her teaching of Portuguese for professional settings.

Since 2023, she has been writing teaching content for CNED, France's national distance-learning centre. At Practice-BR, she brings this experience to creating the activities.

“Interpreting taught me that speaking a language well isn't enough: you have to understand who's on the other side. That's what I want students to practise from the very first activities.”
